A well-established global events management company was looking to source sustainably made products for gifting conference attendees, who included C-Suite executives. Limited time and lack of local capacity were the client’s biggest pain points.

Methodology

A strategic sales and marketing initiative for many companies, corporate gifting presents the challenges of finding the right suppliers and gifts, and managing tight deadlines. Today, corporations have the opportunity to source ethically-made products that converge quality and social and environmental impact. However, like our client, many corporations do not have the capacity or experience to navigate local artisanal sourcing; they do not know where to start or who to approach. This is where we step in, taking the hassle out of the process leveraging our relationships with makers in Kenya and the wider East African region, and our “glocal” approach, characterized by a firm understanding of the local context and dynamics, and global design trends and quality standards. Thanks to our in-house design and production capacity, we also provide customization.

Implementation

Step 1:

Understand the clients’ brand, gifting goals, event theme, budget, as well as the profile of the gift recipients.

Step 2:

Based on the above framework, submit a proposal providing different options for the client to choose from.

Step 3:

Dispatch samples to client for review and approval, based on selected products.

Step 4:

Complete the sourcing, coordinate packing and dispatch to clients. This also includes custom packaging for the gifts.

Step 5:

Develop customized tools for the client’s future gifting needs.
